PH’s Favorite Wellness Retailer And How It Takes Care For The Oceans

After stringently picking a wellness product for you, consider choosing a retailer as well that promotes solutions to environmental problems.

Our country is drowning in plastic waste. In fact, the Philippines is one of the top 3 contributors to the world’s plastic problem. But your choice of retailer for wellness and grooming products though can help solve this pollution.

Here are the plastic waste management initiatives you co-support when you purchase your health products from Watsons Philippines. These advocacies aim to contribute to ocean protection.

Watsons – Plastic Bank Impact Program Collaboration

To help reduce plastic pollution and alleviate poverty by creating livelihood, Watsons Philippines has entered a collaboration with Plastic Bank. Through such partnership, Watsons Philippines will continue to Do Good for the Oceans by committing to the prevention of 50,000 kg of plastic bottles from entering the world’s oceans – the equivalent of 2.5 million bottles over the first 12 months.

“We are happy to team up with Watsons Philippines – a company that shares our vision on creating a regenerative economy. This collaboration showcases our unified goal of stopping ocean plastic while creating more opportunities for people living in vulnerable coastal communities,” said David Katz, Founder, and CEO of Plastic Bank.

Sustainable Choices Campaign: Refill and Reduce and Better Packaging

Two of the four lifestyle choices in Watsons Sustainable Choices campaign directly address the plastic waste problem in our oceans. These are Refill and Reduce (refilling bottles and reusing containers) and Better Packaging.

Microplastic Ban

The A.S. Watsons Group has banned the use of microplastics in its own brand of rinse-off cosmetics or personal care products since 2014. By the end of 2019, this ban has been extended to all brands so no rinse-off cosmetics or personal care products from any brand are sold at any Watsons’ stores.

It feels good every time you get to restock your beauty and grooming products from your favorite retailer. What feels great though is knowing that you were able to contribute to care for the oceans and our planet through the purchases you made. Thus, after stringently picking a wellness product for you, consider choosing a retailer as well that promotes solutions to environmental problems – Plastic pollution is, but just one.
