RANKED : MY FAVORITE KRISPY KREME DOUGHNUTS
These five Krispy Kreme doughnuts are ranked based on (1) how romantic it blends with my hot coffee and (2) how not so overwhelming the sweetness while still being a doughnut (you know what I mean).
BACON AND CHEESE RING-FILLED and BRÛLÉE CHEESE RING-FILLED | These are pizza-doughnuts for me. I love to nibble the cheesy taste in every bite of these before sipping my usual creamy coffee.
ORIGINAL GLAZED | The Classic! Always be the first and legal wife of my hot black coffee. Nuff said.
CHOCO PEANUT BUTTER RING FILLED | It looks too sweet but the sprinkled sea salt and roasted hazelnut tastefully neutralized the sweetness on this morsel. With lots of proteins too 💪🏼.
CHOCOLATE GLAZE | This is chocolately naive, and that is just perfect for me. I can eat only one each of the other 4 (in the rank) but I will always consume 2 of this. Every time!
DARK CHOCOLATE GLITZ with Davao’s award-winning Malagos Chocolate (below is Blueberry Bliss Glaze) | The subtle bitter taste amidst the sweetness is truly a unique doughnut experience in every bite. I love this with a creamier coffee.
Doughnuts will always be the best office morsel for me. Always be the submissive palatable better half of a warm caffeine, whether or not it is a winning day at work. It is just always a winning day when you’re getting a doughnut for snack. That is indeed my sole reason why I celebrate World Doughnut Day!
Happy World Doughnut Day, Closers!

These brave children serve as our inspiration. We hope that through our small gesture, we are able to enhance their quality of life” -Inkwun Heo, LG Electronics Philippines Managing Director
After a series of medical missions for families in Koronadal, Digos, and Butuan in early March, LG Electronics keeps its tradition of giving back to the community with PhP 3,000,000 worth of LG products donated to the House of Hope in Davao during their visit, March 28, 2019.
“LG remains committed in creating social impact and being agents for change. These brave children serve as our inspiration. We hope that through our small gesture, we are able to enhance their quality of life” LG Electronics Philippines Managing Director Inkwun Heo said.
The 3 Million worth donation is expected to help make the shelter more conducive to every child’s recovery. This includes:
(1) over 27,000 various personal care products such as body wash, soap and toothpaste items
(2) 5 43” Full HD TVs
(3) 28 Dual Inverter Airconditioning units
(4) 2 Top Load Washing Machines
(5) 2 Side by Side Refrigerators.
The House of Hope Foundation, located inside the Southern Philippines Medical Center compound (SPMC), is a charitable group that provides temporary shelter to children with cancer. SPMC is the only hospital in the whole of Mindanao that offers free cancer treatment to children. Since a large majority of its patients are indigent families with no place to stay while they are undergoing treatment, the House of Hope provides a sanctuary for them.
The simple turnover ceremony ended with a heartfelt chorus of Yeng Constantino’s “Salamat” (means “Thank You” in Filipino) by the child-residents of the shelter dedicated to the entire LG team. Dr. Mae Concepcion Dolendo, program director of House of Hope Foundation also gave an artwork by Kublai Millan (a famous artist from Mindanao), to Mr Heo as a Thank You souvenir from Davao.

Three phenomenal signers in one spectacular show. The Aces – Darren Espanto, Jona and Lani Misalucha are set to shake Davao’s concert scene this March 2, 2019, 8 PM at the SMX Convention Center, SM Lanang Premier, Davao City.
“Ace” the term which perfectly describes the artists of CCC Productions’ latest venture into the concert scene. Thus, it is tagged as, The Aces.
ACE – of first quality or high rank; a person who excels in something. In most card games, it is the card with the highest value.
Tickets are available in all SM Tickets outlets.
From its successful leg in Cebu last February 2, The Aces – Darren Espanto, Jona and Lani Misalucha are set to shake Davao’s concert scene this March 2, 2019, 8 PM at the SMX Convention Center, SM Lanang Premier, Davao City.
Individually, Darren, Jona and Lani are phenomenal.
The Voice Kids Philippines 2014 Runner-Up to a Double Platinum Recording Artist
He may be the youngest in terms of age, but 17-year-old Darren is more than capable of holding his own in the company of veteran singers like the other Aces. Darren started singing at the tender age of two and rose to fame in the Philippines after placing second in season one of The Voice Kids in 2014. His first album “Darren” debuted at No. 1 and has since been certified Double Platinum; his second album “Be With Me” also went to No. 1 and is now certified Platinum. Darren’s current single “Poison” is currently climbing the charts, and his third studio album will be released soon.
Pinoy Pop Superstar 2005 Grand Winner to a Platinum Recording Artist
Shortly after winning season one of GMA-7’s Pinoy Pop Superstar, Jona—who at the time was still going by her real name Jonalyn Viray—became an in-demand performer and recording artist. Jona’s first studio album On My Own turned Gold, and her self-titled second album yielded a hit single in “Help Me Get Over.” It went on to win Song of the Year at the 2014 PMPC Star Awards for Music. A year later, she made headlines when she transferred to the Kapamilya network and changed her stage name. She has released an album under ABS-CBN’s in-house record label Star Music, which was eventually certified Platinum. She has also filled concert venues here and abroad, both as a solo performer and as part of a group.
Asia’s Nightingale, The Siren of the Strip
The diva known as Asia’s Nightingale hardly needs an introduction. Lani’s career spans decades and includes an impressive stint performing in Las Vegas, where she became known as the Siren of the Strip. During her time there, Lani performed with the Society of Seven at Bally’s and the Flamingo, making her the first Asian to headline a main showroom on the Las Vegas Strip. Lani’s career in the Philippines is nothing to sneeze at either, as all of her albums have been certified Gold or Platinum.
What if these three spectacular talents of the Philippines’ Music Industry are put together in one show?
You just have to be there!
The Aces is directed by Marvin Caldito.
Tickets are priced at Php3,710 for Platinum, Php3,180 for VIP, Php2,120 for Gold and Php850 for Silver tickets. Tickets are available in all SM Tickets outlets.
Picking a fabric with travel friendly features is a different story. It exudes your style but eludes you from a fat luggage. Are you ready for the next takeoff?
One of the most touristic things to do in the destination is to dress up like a visitor while being not too flamboyant to intimidate the locals. That garb which gives you comfort, function and the desired immersive vibe of your own flair of style while en route.
This series is dedicated to the sets of outfit one can get inspiration from while travelling. Every episode is also infused with ideas you can add in your itinerary like food and cafe stops, tourist spots, and tech solutions for services while traveling. Our first touchdown, South Cebu!
Macchiato Espresso and Bulgogi Pizza to kick off the trip! (The Pyramid, IT Park Garden)
A baseball cap, a vertically textured tee, jeans and my favorite tasseled loafer wrapped my touchdown-to-first-stop look. I also brought with me a jacket which complements the shades of the cap, the shirt and the shoes. The cap, the jacket and the jeans insulate heat while at the airport and during in-flights, especially during early morning flights. Easy to slip-on foot wear like this gives you less hassle during the airport security procedures upon check in.
Wandering around the Queen City of the South was made smoother using Grab Car. This was my first time to depend on the app all my transportation needs in a trip. (1) The rates are fixed no matter how heavy would the traffic be towards your destination. This also deters the possibility that your driver might try to take the longer route to charge you bigger from the ideal rate. That is very important to travelers who are new to the place. (2) The en route comfort and exclusivity. You seem to have a personal driver and own car. What is a few more tens in exchange of that convenience?
Food Trip at the Sugbo Mercado Weekend Food Market, IT Park Garden
HOT AND HOLY IN SOUTH CEBU
Hot Morning Stops : Whale Shark Watching and Tumalog Falls, Oslob
I chose a low U tank and a printed swimming shorts to enjoy both the ocean with the sharks and the cold spring from the waterfalls. I wore a long sleeve polo over the tank-short combo for both style and protection. The entire look shows a monochrome green tropical look finished with a dark brown Panama hat without its bow.
The long sleeves guarded the skin from the pinching sun, possible skin irritants from the air during motorcycle ride (had several experience from previous trips) and plant swords while trekking towards the falls. I easily rolled these sleeves when it got humid while it served as a bathrobe every after the water romance.
ROADSIDE LOCAL FOODS : Squid Adobo from a Carenderia, tropical fruits and the famous Lechon from Carcar Public Market
Holy After-Lunch Visit: Simala Shrine, Sibonga
Just like visiting in any religious tourist spot, we have to be in a respectful drape. Thus, I folded a pair of smart linen pieces for this church visit which was light to carry in my back pack early that morning.
This was my favorite outfit for this trip. The entire look showed a smart casual appeal made touristy because of the linen material. Fortified such appeal with the leather shoes and the same hat I used earlier that day, but now with a hankie that serves as its bow.
This was the most relaxing part of the trip. I thanked for the blessings and surpassed trials from 2018, both in the family affairs and corporate matters. I also asked for wisdom on my plans for 2019. I was relieved, thankful and confident after praying. The feeling was as light and breathable as the linen that touches my skin every time the wind blows as I strolled throughout the vast temple.
Spent few more minutes taking photos of the impressive European design of the church and of course some Gram-worthy photos of the place as my background.
LINEN IN THE CITY
The third day started late. After dressing up, we tried Gibb’s for lunch before heading to SM Seaside. The Spicy Honey Garlic wings were my favorites. Urban Cebu was hot and humid that day. Thus, I chose to wear another linen pair. This time, I opted a long sleeved linen shirt since part of our itinerary was to visit the Sto Niño Basilica later that day (but unfortunately, it was already closed by the time we arrived. TIP: Be there not later than 5PM).
Linen is a travel friendly fabric. Apart from it is light in your luggage, it is also easy to dry. I washed my linen pants that night as I arrived in my stay since it was stained with chocolates I ate during the long bus rides. Don’t judge me. Smirk.
I met with a close friend from high school at SM Seaside. My chum recommended “10 Dove Street Confectionery” so eagerly and persuaded me to catch up there over cakes and coffee. I loved the Mango Pandan slice.
A cream tee, jeans and the leather loafer sealed my last-stop-to-takeoff look. Accented it with a hankie-turned-to-scarf to blend with the French ambiance of La Vie Parissiene. Yes, Airport Looks tend to be with similar style pieces. Same material, same heat insulating purpose while inside a wintry airport and aircraft.
It was my second visit here. Chose the enclosed part of the restaurant this time. Enjoyed the night with Shanpelino and pizza. Shot some photos, did online updating and reminisced funny travel stories from the previous days with the team while sipping some Moscato in betweens.
We ended the night at 10 PM to prepare for our flight by 6AM. After packing up my things, I sneaked for some alone time with a cocktail at a nearby bar from our stay. Drafted my prognostications for 2019 on my phone’s Notes. On top of it was “Sell handsomely,Travel handsomely.”. Then, I Grab-ed our ride to the airport.
We all search for ideas of what to wear on the specific stops of our trip. Picking a fabric with travel friendly features is a different story. It is in fact a travel-style hack. It exudes your style but eludes you from a fat luggage. Are you ready for the next takeoff?
